Ultimate Control Panel
What is it?
The ultimate Windows control panel is a feature that is available in Windows 10 which gives access to far more settings than the standard control panel all in one familiar user interface. It has access to over 200 settings grouped into over 30 group headings. Group headings equate to the view you would get in the standard control panel when not viewed by category (i.e. view by large or small icons). The settings under each group heading give easier access to controls you might normally have to search for. For example, under Devices and Printers, you might see the following settings:
- Add a device
- Advanced printer setup
- Change default printer
- Change device installation settings
- Change Windows To Go start-up options
- Device Manager
- Scan a document or picture
- Set up USB game controllers
- View devices and printers
- View scanners and cameras
The actual number you will get depends very much on whether you have Windows 10 Home or Pro version and also different hardware that may be installed. It is also available on earlier operating systems but you shouldn’t still be using anything earlier that Windows 10, right? It has other names such as Windows Master Control Panel; God Mode etc. and in fact, it doesn’t matter what it is called. You have to go through a few steps in order to be able to access it.
To enable the Ultimate Control Panel
- Right-click the desktop
- Point at New
- Click Folder
- When being asked for a name, type the following
Control.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} - Press Enter
To be frank, the ultimate Windows control panel is not particularly exciting. You might like having all these shortcuts to hand in one place on your desktop and if you don’t like it, you can simply delete it from your desktop.
